MEET JUDGE EULA REID

ABOUT

I am a native of Elizabeth City, North Carolina.  Due to family commitments and other obligations, my parents were unable to complete school. Therefore, education was very important to them so they were dedicated to their children’s education.  The value of a strong work ethic coupled with integrity and dedication instilled in me by my parents make me who I am today.

EDUCATION

I was educated in the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public School System and graduated from Northeastern High School.   I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Elizabeth City State University and my juris doctorate from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

EXPERIENCE

Prior to law school I worked as a paralegal/office manager for a local law firm and upon receiving my law degree served as an Assistant District Attorney for the First Judicial District under District Attorney, Frank Parrish for over 8 ½ years. The First Judicial District is comprised of seven counties, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans.

EXPERIENCE CONTINUED

As an Assistant District Attorney, I prosecuted a variety of cases from simple traffic matters to First Degree Murder.  In 2006, I ran for and won the vacated District Court Seat and have served on the bench as a District Court Judge without opposition for the next three (3) election cycles and held that seat until appointed to Superior Court by the Governor. I enjoyed my serving on the District Court bench and understood that in order to be a good effective judge one must have integrity, compassion, a clear understanding of the law and a judicial temperament. I believe that my tenure on the District Court bench will demonstrate that I encompass all of these judicial personality traits.

VIEWS ON SERVICE

This opportunity to continue to serve the people of North Carolina in this manner would be an amazing experience. I will work as hard on the superior court bench as I did on the district court bench. As a superior court judge I believe it is important to stand and act in a manner that will ensure dignity and trust in the judicial system. I will continue to work tirelessly as a superior court judge to maintain dignity, fairness and confidence in the judicial process because the people of North Carolina deserve nothing less.

FAMILY

I have been married to my high school sweetheart and best friend, Melvin Reid for over 34 years. We have two children Amanda Mullins (Jeffrey) and Alex Reid. We have two beautiful grandchildren, Aurelius and Juliona.

"I have truly enjoyed the challenge that my career has brought me over the years. With your support in November 2022, I will be able to continue to serve this district with honor and with continued trust in the judicial system."
